Second: I’ve been a fan of Carl Sagan since his earliest appearances on Johnny Carson, and it was because of him that I signed up for what became the BOINC Seti project back in 1999. I’ve been running it in the background for over a decade.
Third: I’m an embroiderer…how could I possibly resist this….? (for the click-impaired— it’s the Arecibo 2 message rendered for hand or machine embroidery)
I think I’m in love.
From the Evil Mad Scientists: “The Arecibo Message, one of the most famous messages transmitted as part of SETI, loosely translated, says: “Hi! We’re intelligent! We’re made of meat! Here’s where we live!” ”
You know, I always thought it was strange of restaurants that served chicken to use animated chickens to advertise their food… I kinda feel the same way about this translation of the SETI message…
A number of years ago, when I lived in the Bronx and, on occasion, drove my VW bug to work in Manhattan, I overheard someone say that rush-hour was proof positive that there was intelligent life on this planet because there was A) no rational explanation for the ebb and flow; and B) virtually everyone who starts, survives.
Physically survives, anyway. Not sure about the mental aspect of Manhattan rush-hour…
I always figured traffic was proof-positive we were herd animals/prey and not predators. Predators would be driving on the sidewalk and over the smaller vehicles.
I think you’ve been living alone too long.
I showed a picture of the scarf to my cat and she thought it was pretty neat, too. So living alone has *nothing* to do with it!
And who’s alone these days who has an internet connection?
This looks so *cool* ! I’m going to transpose it to crochet…..after the Olympics! BTW….I’ve been making dryer balls with a bell in the center which to kittehs luuuuuurrrve!
Oooooo – WANT!
